How long does a consultation last?

  • The initial appointment lasts approximately 1 hour.

  • Follow up / review consultation lasts approximately 30 minutes.


How much does it cost to see the dietitian?

  • Initial consultation costs €120.

  • Review/follow-up consultation is €55.

  • Low FODMAP diet package (Initial consultation + 2 follow up consultations) €220.
  • Fee for groups/teams/corporate services varies, please contact Caroline for a quote.


Do I have to be referred by a healthcare professional or can I book an appointment directly?

A referral is not required, you can book an appointment directly by calling Caroline on 086 4006654 or emailing caroline@cndc.ie

However a letter from your doctor with a copy of any tests you have had may be useful.


Do I need to bring anything with me to the appointment? 

3 day food diary (keep a record of what you eat and drink and any symptoms). Copy of blood results (if applicable).

Can I claim back a portion of the consultation fees through my private health insurance?
YES. The fee is payable on the day and you then send the receipt off when doing health insurance claims. Caroline is a member of the Irish Nutrition & Dietetic institute, which is recognised by health insurers.


What does an initial consultation include? 

  • Discussing issues/symptoms and medical and social history.

  • Weight, height and B.M.I. is recorded. Blood pressure is measured. Other measurements such as % body fat and anthropometric measurements are taken (if necessary).

  • Discussing your current lifestyle and dietary habits and preferences.

  • Setting realistic goals and recommendations for you to make to your diet.

  • Providing you with written information that may be necessary.

You may refer your patients directly to Caroline by sending a referral letter to Connacht Nutrition and Dietetic Clinic, postal address can be found here. ​If a client is referred to see Caroline it is important that a letter of referral is sent to Caroline as well as the referred client prior to the initial consultation.
